>--------------THE ONE AND ONLY------------------------<
my singular recommendation for an ongoing yuri is How Do We Relationship? by Tamifull. follows from the premise I've always wanted: what if they start dating at the beginning? what happens next? enjoyable and unique art style with a broad supporting cast and unusual depth to the character writing. really commits to exploring a range of interpersonal conflicts both in friendships and in relationships, with earnest communication to remind you that these are young adults mostly in their 20s figuring out how to live with one another
>--------------MEATY ONGOING------------------------<
naturally i have other favourites in this category. the ones here are distinguished by already having progressed thru several volumes. you will have a lot to read *and* more to look forward to
- She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat, by Yuzaki Sakaomi. two neighbours matching the title description. what's more lovely than bonding through food? engages with the challenge of navigating the fetters of a nuclear family while gay, and gives its main duo lovable side characters to bounce off of
- A Monster Wants to Eat Me, by Naekawa Sai. beautiful pensive story of a grieving high schooler and her two friends who desperately want her to live
- Asumi-chan is Interested in Lesbian Brothels! by Kuro Itsuki. i love this for the casual non-monogamy. asumi-chan is trying to find her high school crush, who she knows works at a lesbian brothel; she doesn't know what alias the crush is using, though, so... gotta try them all
- The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy At All, by Arai Sumiko. unofficially "green yuri". four-koma with striking accents of green atop luscious linework, about a high school girl who is interested in... well, you know
- An OL at Her Limit and a College Girl, by Obata Rui. i call this one orange yuri. crisp art style with orange accents conveying a romance between a disorganized older office lady and her fastidious college student neighbour
- The Moon on a Rainy Night, by Kuzushiro. meetcute between a bubbly high schooler and her reclusive classmate. cute narrative use of sign language, since one of the characters is deaf
>--------------EARLY FAVOURITES------------------------<
i love each of these as much as those preceding, but they are all very early in their runs:
- Pink Candy Kiss, by Uozumi Ami. a woman has a chance reunion with a childhood friend she had feelings for. the friend, though married, seems more interested in her than her own husband
- There Is No Love Wishing Upon a Star, by Murasakino/Shinoa. *gorgeous* and emotive melancholy style. a woman is in love with her friend, who has reluctantly accepted the feelings of their mutual guy friend
- Room For Honeys, by Ayu Inui. coffee shop meetcute between an office lady and a barista. based on a oneshot by the same author
>--------------OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS------------------------<
these are great in their own right...
- Love Thy Neighbour, by Willow. 40 year old housewife and her 24 year-old student neighbour. the student tops the housewife, it's hot
- Love Bullet, by inee. girl is killed in an accident before she can confess to her crush, and joins a squad of cupids in the afterlife
- Even Though We're Adults, Shimura Takako. married schoolteacher makes out with an unfamiliar woman at a bar, drawing her out of the routine she had fallen into
- Monthly in the Garden with my Landlord, by Yodokawa. serial monogamist moves into an apartment to find out the landlord is living in and is also a 19 year-old retired idol
- Kase-san Series, by Takashima Hitomi. consists of several different runs, following yamada and kase first as high school sweethearts and then as undergraduates negotiating busy city life
- The Forbidden Peach, by Amasaki Iroha. graduate student goes to a brothel to find that she is patronizing a sex worker who is also an undergrad at her lab
>--------------JUST OK------------------------<
- Childhood Friend, Big Love, by Kanno Fumi. narratively inconsequential slice-of-life fluff between two high school girls. things have just started picking up though, as though the author has suddenly decided there is to be plot. we'll see!
- My Cute Little Kitten, by Morinaga Milk. an abrupt confession leads to two women moving in together and adopting a cat. what i can say in favour of this one is they fuck a lot. not the most compelling plot
- My Girlfriend's Not Here Today, by Iwami Kiyoko. high school girl cheats on her distant gf with another high school girl. bizarre character writing tbh
- Even the Introverted Gals Wanna Get Out There! by Kashiwagi Tsukiko. cute slice-of-life fluff between two high school girls, but nothing actually happens
